“I’ll Rip Your Head Off and Sh*t Down Your Neck”: Cop Assaults Legal Gun Owner

Saratoga County Deputy Shawn Glans didn’t know he was being recorded when he slapped a legal gun owner in an attempt to intimidate him. Glans had spied a .22 caliber rifle in the backseat of Colin Fitch’s vehicle, at which point his gun-grabbing senses went into overdrive. He tried to bully Fitch into an unlawful, warrantless search of his car, but the driver stood his ground, infuriating the bad cop.

Fitch had purchased the gun earlier that day. There was no indication that he had done so illegally, or that having the firearm was a violation of New York State laws, but still Glans felt the need to assault the young man. In a feeble attempt to justify searching the vehicle, the officer tried to argue that Fitch and his fiends were dressed in dark clothing and “acting suspiciously.”

Deputy Glans was caught on video harassing Fitch in the following exchange:

Deputy Glans: We’ll get a f*cking search warrant, you want us to do that?

Fitch: I mean if that’s the route you want to take, but there’s no reason you have to search my car. There’s just no need for it.

Deputy Glans (to his partner): Okay, lets get a serach warrant.

Fitch: I wasn’t in my car when all this was happening. Like, why don’t you want to search, like, my house or something?

Deputy Glans: Let me see your f*cking keys!

Fitch: Why?

Deputy Glans: Because we’re going to search your f*cking car, that’s why.

Fitch: You can’t do that.

Deputy Glans: Do you want to resist?

Fitch: I’m not resisting.

At that point, Glans slapped Fitch, took his car keys and threw them to his partner. Adam Roberts, the passenger inside the vehicle who was secretly filming the entire ordeal, then asked if the Deputy was going to slap him around as well. Glans’ response was shockingly aggressive. “I’ll rip your head off and sh*t down your neck,” responded the law enforcement officer.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release subsequent to the ordeal, which stated that Glans has been “suspended without pay effective immediately pending the outcome of the investigation and possible disciplinary action”.
