Obama’s Pentagon Makes Alarming Announcement About Ebola

Many were shocked when Obama announced he would be sending U.S. troops to Ebola-stricken West Africa to render aid, as the deadly virus has claimed 4,484 lives so far and the death toll continues to rise. It is unlikely that American soldiers will be able to do anything to abate the spread of the virus or cure those suffering from its debilitating symptoms, yet the risk that they might contract the highly-contagious disease themselves is very high.

Now, the Pentagon has made an even more alarming announcement: U.S. troops traveling to the Ebola danger zone will not be given proper protective gear to help prevent them from contracting the virus. In a Pentagon briefing Wednesday, Gen. David Rodriguez revealed that U.S. soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell would only be outfitted with gloves and masks – not complete hazmat suits.

“They don’t need the whole suit – as such – because they’re not going to be in contact with any of the people,” Gen. Rodriguez said. The soldiers are charged with building hospitals in West Africa, a task which isn’t exactly in their job description. It’s hard to imagine that they will not be coming into contact with any Ebola-infected individuals at all during their assignment.

What is easier to imagine is the notion that Obama likely has General Rodriguez under his thumb. High-ranking military officials are not stupid. Rodriguez is probably well aware of the threat these soldiers will be encountering, but he is stuck between a rock and a hard place; do Obama’s bidding or be removed from his position.

It appears as though Obama is intentionally putting American soldiers in danger and stripping them of their last lifeline to remain healthy. As the Conservative Tribune reported: Putting them in harm’s way to fight Ebola is bad enough, but sending them out there without the protection they need is scandalous.

This policy surely will not help the President’s dismal approval rating among members of the military. According to one Navy SEAL, “over 90% don’t support the president.” Let us know how you feel about Obama’s latest move to undermine our military in the comments section.
