Victoria Osteen is the wife of famous televangelist Joel Osteen. She has come under fire recently for a controversial sermon which she said back in August, the video of which can be seen above. Osteen basically told her followers that they should do whatever makes them happy, because that’s really what God wants. The reaction from the crowd proved they were very confused by that stance.

Here’s exactly what Osteen said:

“When we obey God, we’re not doing it for God…we’re doing it for ourself. Because God takes pleasure when we’re happy. Do good ’cause God wants you to be happy. When you come to church, when you worship Him, you’re not doing it for God, really. You’re doing it for yourself because that’s what makes God happy.”

Once video of the sermon hit the internet, Christians everywhere began speaking out against Osteen’s absurd remarks.

Pastor Steve Camp called Osteen’s comments sinful. He told Christian News Network:

“It’s the age old sin of idolatry — that it’s not about God, it’s about us. True worship for the humanist is about how we feel at the end of the day and what gives us meaning, as opposed to what gives God glory.”

Do you think Osteen really meant what she said? Or was she briefly stricken with a bad case of diarrhea of the mouth? Give us your take in the comments section!
