Obama doesn’t seem to be doing much to restore his reputation; in fact, it appears as though he is doing whatever he can to dig himself into a deeper hole. As U.S. airstrikes in Iraq continue, Obama has fled the Oval Office to his familiar vacation spot – Martha’s Vineyard. This weekend, he played golf with ex-NFL player Ahmad Rashad, the NBA’s Ray Allen and Cyrus Walker, the cousin of White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett.

As reported by MailOnline:

Obama was escorted to the Farm Neck Golf Club, in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, by a huge motorcade, which included a SWAT team and two snipers who peered out of an open trunk. Sporting a United States Secret Service baseball cap, Obama seemed reasonably relaxed despite the hefty protection, laughing and chatting with his golfing buddies in between holes. Obama fled Washington for his family’s familiar vacation spot yesterday for a two-week summer break.

Obama has been chastised for the amount of time he has spent on vacation in Martha’s Vineyard during his time in office; not to mention the amount of tax-payer money it has cost for the First Family to frequent the luxurious vacation spot. The Obama’s apparently don’t mind the bad rap, though, as it hasn’t kept them away from the upscale local.

Moments before jetting off to his island retreat, Obama held a press conference in which he stated:

“I’m not going to give a particular timetable, because as I’ve said from the start, wherever and whenever U.S. personnel and facilities are threatened, it’s my obligation, my responsibility as Commander-in-Chief, to make sure that they are protected.”

Would’ve been nice if he’d taken the same stance on Benghazi, don’t you think?

Senator Ted Cruz criticized Obama for taking this vacation at the most inopportune time at the Iowa State Fair:

“I think the president should actually stand up and do his job as commander in chief, should spend less time on the golf course and more time doing the job to which he was elected. I am glad the president is finally demonstrating some leadership, taking the threat from ISIS seriously, but unfortunately, he’s following the pattern that has characterized his foreign policy from the beginning of this tenure which he has laid out no clearly defined objective that we’re trying to accomplish that is key to defending U.S. national security.”

Indeed, there are not many who seem to be satisfied with Obama’s leadership at the moment. ABC reported:

“What is missing right now is the commander in chief laying out a strategic vision, here is what we’re trying to accomplish so everyone will know when it’s accomplished and here’s why it furthers U.S. national security interests.”

Among all of this criticism, the Obama’s will be staying for 16 days at a $12 million home with 17 rooms, which they are renting on your dime. Kind of makes you sick, doesn’t it?

The president did not cancel or postpone his vacation even after the Islamic militants overrunning the country took control of one of Iraq’s largest dams and ran religious minorities out of the city of Mosul under threat of death.
