NASCAR Reacts to Stewart Killing Fellow Driver
August 11, 2014 8:06am PST
NASCAR has finally released a statement on the Tony Stewart incident, and it is dripping with sympathy for Kevin Ward Jr. According to SB Nation, NASCAR had this to say on Monday morning:
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and fellow competitors of Kevin Ward Jr. We support Tony Stewart’s decision to miss today’s race and we will continue to respect the process and timeline of the local authorities and will continue to monitor this situation moving forward.”
The statement basically tries to remain as neutral as possible, and doesn’t support Stewart in any way. NASCAR appears to be waiting for the dust to settle before they pick a side in this case, which is unfortunate considering their support could really help Stewart’s case.
Even though NASCAR won’t step up to support their own driver, we at Tell Me Now remain committed to being the voice of Mr. Stewart and his supporters. After viewing the video footage, any rational person would come to the conclusion that Stewart had no intention of hitting Ward.
What do you think of NASCAR’s statement? What does it say about Stewart’s future? Let us know in the comments below!
