Detroit Police Chief Crushes Gun Grabbers In One Sentence

It’s no secret that the city of Detroit is like an apocalyptic thug town thanks to it being run into the ground by Democrats. A once thriving place where business boomed and families sprouted has become a dismal playground for gang activity and gun crime.

One bit of good news for Motor City is that the Chief of Detroit police has credited legally armed citizens for a substantial decrease in crime as of late. “Criminals are getting the message that good Detroiters are armed and will use that weapon,” said Chief James Craig. He told The Detroit News:

“I don’t want to take away from the good work our investigators are doing, but I think part of the drop in crime, and robberies in particular, is because criminals are thinking twice that citizens could be armed. They automatically assume another criminal is carrying. I’m talking about criminals who are thinking of robbing a citizen. They’re less likely to do so if they think they might be armed.”

Recent crime stats in Detroit are nothing to sneeze at. The city has experienced 37 percent fewer robberies in 2014 than during the same period last year, 22 percent fewer break-ins, and 30 percent fewer carjackings.

Police Chief Craig first made headlines in January when he told The Detroit News that he believes lawful armed citizens deter crime. An unlikely stance for an urban law enforcement officer, it got him featured on the cover of an NRA publication.

60-year-old Detroit resident Al Woods is a former criminal. Now, he is an advocate for anti-violence and a published author. He agrees fully with Chief Craig, going so far as to say, “If I was out there now robbing people these days, knowing there are a lot more people with guns, I know I’d have to rethink my game plan.”

80-year-old Bill Welborne also agrees with Craig. His home was broken into 15 years ago and the thieves stole his prized coin collection. He was not home at the time of the incident. “I have a pistol and a shotgun,” Welborne said. “Without a doubt, if my life is in danger, I wouldn’t hesitate to shoot,” he furthered.

The city of Detroit still has a long way to go in terms of making a comeback. Property values that plummeted in once affluent neighborhoods are still at rock-bottom and many homeowners have fled the Detroit area after losing their nest egg. However, if violent gun crime continues to take a nose dive, Detroit may still have a fighting chance.

Of course, the lamestream media has completely ignored this news of the decreasing gun crime in Detroit and Chief Craig’s statement that it’s due to legally armed citizens. No surprise there.

This report seems like some pretty substantial evidence to the contrary for liberals who argue that more gun control leads to less violent gun crimes. When will the liberal community start to wake up and acknowledge these statistics? I know it can be embarrassing to admit when you’re wrong, but c’mon!
