Since 1977, FDA guidelines have prevented gay males from giving blood. In their endless quest for total equality, the liberal community is now attempting to change these FDA guidelines so that homosexual men can give blood just like heterosexuals. Never mind the fact that the guidelines have been put into place to protect innocent recipients of blood, because homosexual men have an exponentially higher risk of carrying diseases like HIV and Hepatitis B.

Today, several universities across the country are participating in a ‘National Gay Blood Drive’. The University of Cincinnati’s Hoxworth Blood Center, Lane Community College in Oregon, and Western Michigan University are just a few of the facilities taking part.

Since homosexual men are technically not allowed to give blood, they are being encouraged to bring a proxy with them to give blood in their name. Pretty stupid, if you ask me. They’re not really accomplishing anything at all except to perpetuate the same system that they’re protesting. Attendees of the blood drive are being given the opportunity to sign a petition which will be sent to the White House.

As reported by Campus Reform:

According to the CDC, gay and bisexual men accounted for 63 percent of new HIV infections in 2010. From 2008 to 2010, new HIV infections increased 22 percent among gay and bisexual men between the ages of 13 to 24. Overall, new HIV infections increased 12 percent among men of all ages between those years.

Gay activists argue that in the past decades, screening processes for donated blood have become increasingly advanced, lessening the risk of any infected blood being passed on. Even still, a government health committee recommended keeping the ban on homosexual males giving blood in 2010.

The gay community would like to be able to do absolutely everything that heterosexuals are allowed to do under the law, even if it puts innocent people in grave danger. What they neglect to admit is that their rights to equality do not trump the rights of others to safe medical treatment. Let’s imagine for just a minute that an entity decided to host a ‘National Straight Blood Drive’. The media would have a field day and every conservative Christian would be branded as a discriminatory A-hole.

What do you think? Should homosexuals be allowed to give blood even though they carry a heightened risk of decease? Sound off in the comments section!
