One homeowner recently found himself without help after calling 911 only to hear the words, “If this is an emergency, hang up and dial 911,” on the other end. Lucky for him, this man was able to defend himself and his family as he later called back to report he shot one of the intruders.

As the Pasco County, Florida 911 audio clips have been released to the public, the man can be heard being beaten while trying to fight back against four intruding thieves. Apparently the four men kicked in his door and demanded he hand over his valuables and prescription drugs.

Reportedly, the 911 call was picked up by the firefighter office and upon attempting to transfer the call to the police, the operator accidentally sent the man over to the station’s voicemail. A short while later however, it appears that man was able to regain control over the situation as he called back to inform police that he had shot one of the intruders.

Pasco County officials have since come forward to announce that the accidental and unfortunate transfer did not hinder response times as police were sent out at mere three and a half minutes later. According to The Daily Caller, “Three of the robbers, including the one who was shot, have been arrested.”
