Obama Using Executive Action To Open Borders For Drug Trade

Of all the ridiculous things Obama has implemented during his time as Commander-in-Chief, his latest idea has scared quite a few New Mexicans. Reserving a 600,000 acre chunk of land, and marking it as a national monument, Obama has effectively unsecured the border into Mexico giving open access to drug and human traffickers.

Recently declaring the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument under government control and handing its oversight over to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Obama has literally left the border wide open and unprotected.

As this provides a dangerous opportunity for this country despite it already struggling in the “secured border” category, you can imagine how many people are upset over this. Utah Republican Rep. Rob Bishop explained:

“National Parks, monuments, and wilderness areas along our southern border have become prime drug-trafficking corridors for violent criminals and drug cartels.  Restrictive environmental laws within these federal corridors limit Border Patrol access and, as a result, make it easier for drug smugglers and human traffickers to move their drugs and people in and out of the United States unnoticed.”

Those involved in the drug trade are exactly what the locals are most worried about as Subbotin shared the heart of their worries being how Obama is going to classify the national monument. “In some national monuments, no vehicle traffic is allowed,” she described. “Making this a new national monument will impede Border Patrol’s ability to have routine access to the land.”

The Chairman of the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers, Zack Taylor, is equally disgusted as well sharing that Obama’s recent decision, “is the biggest breach of border security I have seen in the last 20 years. The people don’t want it, and the sheriff doesn’t want it. It is an open invitation for the foreign drug cartels and transnational criminals to bring their illegal drugs and aliens into the U.S.”

Include all this into the added risk it posses on the local population – specifically those who live around the 600,000 acre area – and you start to wonder what Obama was really thinking in the first place. Let us know what you have to think about Obama’s actions in a comment below.
