Over this past President’s Day weekend the Obama’s took full advantage of their seemingly unlimited travel budget with Michelle and their daughters going on their third consecutive vacation to Aspen for some skiing while the President went to sunny Southern California to stay at a billionaires estate and hit the links for a few rounds of golf.

Sheriffs in Aspen were notified of the First Lady’s trip roughly three weeks ago and had to add a security detail of 8 additional officers to protect her and her daughters. The First Family is staying at the lavish home of the owners of The Aspen Skiing Company, Jim and Paula Crown and hit the slopes nearly daily.

This trip for the First Lady comes right after she had just spent 24 days in Hawaii at the beginning of the year.

They arrived on Friday and are scheduled to depart this afternoon.

It’s only recently that Aspen has been their choice Colorado destination, however. In previous years they stayed in Vail and Beaver Creek but 2 years ago started going to Aspen and have been going there ever since for President’s Day weekend.

Meanwhile, the President went to Southern California to catch up with some childhood and visit with Governor Jerry Brown in the state’s drought affected areas.

The President stayed at late billionaire philanthropists Walter and Leonore Annenburg’s estate and hit the private 9 hole golf course in the Sunnylands Retreat in Rancho Mirage with long time friends Bobby Titcomb, Greg Orme, and Michael Ramos.

The President’s trip also included a Friday night meeting with Jordan’s Kind Abdulla II in Sunnylands and he’ll conclude his trip this afternoon when he heads back to Washington.
