It’s not news to anyone that national Tea Party groups have never trusted Speaker of the House John Boehner. Now an all-out campaign has been launched by the nation’s largest Tea Party PAC to primary Boehner.
The Tea Party Leadership PAC claims that Boehner is “stabbing conservatives in the back,” and vows to collect 1 million signatures as part of its online petition drive.
The group’s spokesman, Rusty Humphries issued the following statement on the massive effort that has been launched to throw the Speaker out:
“John Boehner has declared war on conservatives demanding lower taxes and limited government. Today we declare war on him. We intend to send a message to his fellow ‘RINOs’ that such ideologically bankrupt leadership must come to an end.”
Humphries said, “When we reach 1 million petition signers, we will show John Boehner, the liberal media, and every other congressional sell out that the Tea Party is serious about returning America to greatness.
Social media has heated up since the group released their intentions to “declare war” on Boehner and there is no doubt that the effort will pick up steam from grassroots conservatives through Boehner’s Ohio district.
The group plans to supplement the strong grassroots sentiments with a long list of initiatives including district-wide phone outreach, massive online and social media campaigns, running print, TV, radio, billboard and internet ads.
The PAC announced a $25,000 intitial investment on Friday to kick off their efforts.
The group laid out “interviewing and vetting potential candidates” as a key part of their action plan, but time will be of the essense once a more conservative candidate emerges. The primary challenger(s) will face Boehner in Ohio’s May 6 GOP primary.
What are your thoughts on Boehner? Do you think the Speaker will be ousted?
