The disturbing “knockout” game is spreading throughout the country. The game usually is played by teenagers who dare on another to walk up from behind someone and strike them in the head as hard as they can and run away. Some of these attacks have involved more than one attacker which was the case in Philadelphia earlier this month.

Mark Cumberland found himself being beaten by four teens as he was waiting at a pizza shop in  Cumberland says, “Someone asked me for a cigarette and by the time I got my hands out of my pocket, I was being hit by four kids.”

The suspects in this knockout game and in most other cases, choose their victims at random and attempt to knock them out with one punch. Cumberland says he now has difficulty seeing, swallowing and breathing as a result of the ordeal.

Knockout game attackers typically don’t rob their victims of anything besides their piece of mind. “There’s no reason at all. I mean, I didn’t get robbed, they didn’t take nothing from me. They just beat me up” explained Cumberland.

Investigators say they have detained a 15-year old male and are currently searching for another suspect in connection to their roles in this attack. He was charged with “Aggravated Assault, Criminal Conspiracy, and related charges.”
