“We Have The Votes To Impeach Obama” Says Congressman

“If wish were horses than beggars would ride.” Texas Republican Rep. Blake Farenthold seems to be engaging in precisely that type of wishful thinking when he says that “If we were to impeach the president tomorrow, you could probably get the votes in the House of Representatives to do it.”

The fact is that Republicans in the House are already caving on immigration. They’d never have the courage to vote to send Obama to the Senate for impeachment proceedings.

Moreover, even if the Republicans did so, they’d end up with egg on their collective faces, possibly for generations to come. Obama is a truly dreadful president, whose sole interest in America seems to be to weaken, if not to destroy it. Having said that, he’s been sufficiently skillful that his fingerprints don’t come anywhere near the scandals rocking his administration. On the evidence about the administration currently before the American people, there just aren’t grounds to impeach him. Being bad isn’t enough.

Farenthold also raises the birth certificate issue, which is a much more interesting one, but promptly abandons it as dead in the water. That also speaks to how craven Republicans are, since they should have pursued this issue before Obama was even elected, but were too afraid of Democrats and the media.
